My name is Marian Glaser. I am 74 years old and have MS. For the past 22 years I have been living in a long term care hospital in Montreal, Quebec. I have been writing poetry since I was diagnosed in 1984. Originally it was because I could no longer write long pieces of prose. I had completed 3 unpublished novels. I did find out that writing one page of poetry could be as exhausting as writing a novel, but that didn't stop me. I had the qualifications to become a poet since they say it takes one million written words before you can write a poem.

I was born in the Netherlands, 30 miles from Amsterdam, at the mouth of the Rhine River.

I have degrees in English and Psychology from Carleton University in Ottawa.
