I like

the smooth mathematical precision

of tulips,

the chaos of rose petals

spiraling unrestrained,

closing in buds or

curling with age.

Now silk carnations

bow stiffly.

This morning’s rising sun

backlit an orange one.

Dead material glowed.

Borrowed life lasts briefly.

My own will last longer.
