PRAYER

Enter a space not always there

Follow a known ritual,

Wait for the gift, find no trick

To make it work, be amazed

At what always surprises

And is not always there.

PEACE

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem,

Mecca and Rome, keep faith

With truth, let desire catch light,

Imagination name the gift -

Make no peace with demons

While roads remain in the heart

GRASS

The grass around the church is cut

Green and short unlike the sermons

Or the gravestones - tall white

Marks against the missing word.
