The writings's flow of belief

Lifts out events that chime:

Bethlehem and Egypt needed

For the past to see the future

And fulfill the present too,

But Mark begins much later,

John starts far before - even

Luke and Matthew do not know

The detail, cosmic and domestic,

Brimming over:

Was there a birth in the heavens

That day the star was seen -

For the otherness of eternity

Is the Christ-child always here?
