The gulls came silently

Unannounced:

For the eyes only.

A skylark landed on the river's stones

More noisily

And disappeared - like that.

The gulls came silently,

One in the lead; others

Too, kept dependent stations:

A fitting geometry that

Fixed the air and let the waters flow.

They came silently. No warning.
