He yearns for freedom

Independence

Rankles at my questioning

Of where he's been

Growing, stretching towards the sky

His body lean and muscular

His teenage pursuits, skating and more skating

Bruised and bloodied he limps home, board under his arm

His pride choking back tears

He bathes his wounds in private and says he is fine

Next morning begins again the olies, 360's, kickflips

Practicing, practicing

Relentless, oblivious he perseveres.
