The owls dance along the branch.

A chorus line of yellow eyes

Got up in dusty plumage

With quiet wings and naked claws.

Small owls who fly into windows

Leave their imprint on the glass,

The details plain from feather to beak.

Here no manipulation struts -

Owls are open to scars, find courage

In a truth without a name

Though names by all that is,

Including small rodents

Considered by the owls

As they step along the branch.
